It was a beautiful morning as our boys enjoyed their weekly Sunday stroll in PJs and flip-flops down to our Dining Room for their favorite Dunkin’ Donuts. Scattered around the dining room were groups of campers and counselors who seemed content to spend a few extra minutes relaxing and reflecting on the wonderful visiting day we had.
Our Seniors spent the rest of the morning preparing for their Big Trips. There were meetings with trip leaders to review the itineraries as well as the expectations for teamwork and decorum when out of camp. Our older boys have waited all summer for this week. Our Intermediates (finished seventh grade) are preparing to head south to Boston, and our Sub-Seniors (finished eighth grade) will embark on one of three amazing trips— canoeing down the St. Croix River, climbing up Mount Katahdin, or golfing some of Maine’s most majestic courses. On Wednesday, our Okees (finished ninth grade) will board a motor coach and head to Canada for the trip of a lifetime.
We had our weekly nurses’ inspection where every camper was checked head-to-toe and our Warriors and Juniors enjoyed a fun day of activities and team practices for some upcoming intercamp competition.
It’s an exciting time of the summer when all age groups can look forward to Big Trips and a host of special events. Now more than ever, our boys recognize that every day creates its own special meaning as we look to soak up the fun in every moment and collect memories that we hope will last a lifetime.
