Our Senior boys didn’t have to wait for the sound of reveille to hop out of bed this morning…
Our Intermediates were up early, finished packing, and boarded a chartered bus for Massachusetts. They boarded the Lady Sea deep sea fishing vessel in Gloucester, Massachusettes, at 1:30 PM for a fun day of deep sea fishing. This 75-foot vessel is equipped with rods, reels, bait, and hooks. All our boys had to do was throw their lines in the water and pray. While we anticipated the boys would catch lots of fish, we hedged our bet and booked a lobster bake dinner just in case… Reports from our Intermediates indicate that the trip is off to a great start.
Some of our Sub Seniors made their way to Sunday River Golf Club in time for an afternoon tee-time. Our golfers are going to have an amazing week playing some of the nicest courses in the state of Maine. Today, they mastered the art of replacing divots. While the boys had a great time playing this beautiful course, they will need to wake up a little bit earlier tomorrow morning to stop at Walmart and purchase more golf balls.
A group of Sub Seniors made their way to the banks of the St. Croix River, where they will become one with the wilderness for the next four days. They’ll be canoeing down the river each day with the goal of getting to their assigned campsites along the shore of the river.
Some of our boys who have finished fourth grade had an opportunity to experience their first overnight of the season as they made their way to Swan Falls Campground where they enjoyed an afternoon of hiking, exploring, and swimming before a cookout dinner with all the trimmings including s’mores. Eventually, they retired to their tents for the evening.
At the end of a full day of activities, I invited our Hawks (finished third grade) to come down to my house for a movie night. These boys felt right at home as they snuggled on the couches, ate snacks, and watched a movie on a big screen.
Our boys who have finished fifth grade cut their day a little short in order to hit the showers and host the girls from Camp Vega for a dinner social. We have a lot in store for our boys as we reach the fifth week of the summer. There are trips, intercamp games, socials, and other special events that will bring smiles to the boys’ faces.
