As I headed to the office an hour before reveille this morning, I heard noise from the upper sports complex. I made my way up to the building where I found our Okees playing pick-up basketball with their group leader, Neil Minsky. Our oldest boys have been waiting for this day for as long as they can remember: the opportunity to travel to Canada with the guys they spent their childhood every summer on the shores of Long Lake. After breaking a good sweat, the group went down to the waterfront for a refreshing dip before grabbing their bags, boarding the bus, and making their way to Old Quebec City. Early reports mention the boys had a delicious dinner after crossing the border and enjoyed an evening taking a guided “haunted walk” of the historic city.

On the St. Croix River Trip, the counselor updates reported another great day on the water completing twelve miles before reaching their campsite for another evening under the stars. Our golfers teed off at the Samoset Golf Course, one of the more beautiful courses in Maine. This is a special treat our boys thoroughly enjoyed.

Back in camp, our boys enjoyed a hot sunny day. Warrior Group Leader Harrison Manchel pulled out the slip ‘n slide for an afternoon of fun for our Hawks and Crows. Our Eagles showered up after lunch, put on their best attire, and made their way to Camp Vega for an afternoon of casual activities and an enjoyable co-ed dinner.

Juniors had a full day of league sports and made time to hit the lake to refresh after leaving it all on the fields. After a camp-wide cookout, the evening ended with a big bonfire and s’mores for our Crows and Hawks and anyone else who happened to pass by at the right time.

We’re moving in many directions, and our boys are happy and making the most out of every day.
