Camp Takajo for Boys in Naples, Maine

It’s hard to believe that we are just one week away from our visiting day weekend. We have an expression here at camp, “The days can feel long, but the weeks fly by.” The upcoming week is filled with a host of exciting events that include brother-sister days with our neighboring girls’ camps, and the Camp Takajo Carnival on Wednesday. Our senior campers are hard at work preparing for their big trips, which depart on the Monday after visiting day weekend.

Camp Takajo for Boys in Naples, MaineLike with most things in life, preparation is the key to a great result. Our senior campers are taking hiking trips in preparation for climbing Mt. Katahdin, and hiking around Acadia National Park. Some of our other senior campers have been out golfing in preparation for a five-day golf trip. Our counselors have been hard at work preparing the itinerary for these trips. This includes all of the extracurricular activities that will take place on these extended trips.

In the next day or two, I plan on writing a blog article that will address many of your questions and concerns regarding how to approach this long-awaited day to visit your sons. In the meantime, we continue to make the most out of every day, utilize every facility, and appreciate this beautiful opportunity to spend a summer together on the shores of Long Lake and all that Maine has to offer.
