What’s Happening at Camp Takajo? July 6, 2012

By July 7, 2012 January 14th, 2019 Tak Talk

Jeff’s Thoughts:
Loyalty: Every morning before reveille at Camp Takajo, a morning ritual takes place in my office. The Takajo “Brass,” my nickname for the top-level administration, come together to prepare for the day while our boys are still sleeping.  Warrior Group Leader Hank Fortin (42 years at camp), Junior Group Leader Neil Minsky (21 years), Senior Group Leader Paddy Mohan (27 years), Tennis Director Dan Aubuchon (12 years), Tripping Director Colleen Eagleson (20 years), Athletic Director Jeff Cunjak (16 years), and Waterfront Director Bob Lewis (24 years), join Warren Davis (39 years) and myself to discuss our campers and their needs, and the wide variety of programs we offer on a daily basis.  At Camp Takajo, our “brass” works long, hard hours to ensure a safe, happy environment for your child. Loyalty.

  • All of our Junior Green campers are on their little trip today, traveling to Old Orchard Beach for some rides, food and fun.
  • Tomorrow, there is an all day Tennis Tournament for our 11, 12 and 13-year-old boys. There are also two 15-year-old boys tournaments going on at the same time.  Good luck out there boys!
  • It is a gorgeous day out on the waterfront, with a light breeze it great water skiing weather.  We have a full day of instructional swim for all the Warrior boys.  Everyone is enjoying general swim out in the sunshine. Don’t forget the sunblock everyone.
  • Tonight we will be having a Takajo “family” night gathering right here on campus.  After our families meet together, they will split into their big brother, little brother groups and read together.
  • The 14-year-old boys in group A will have basketball all day at Takajo, and we also have our 12-year-old boys, both groups A and B, playing some competitive, inter-camp hockey.
  • We have the start of the basketball clinic today at camp.  Warrior Braves had a session this morning, and the WR Indians will have one in the afternoon.  The Indians also had a group trip to Fun Town Splash Town yesterday, phenomenal weather, perfect for the water activities, and some campers even when on the big rides for the first time ever.
