What’s Happening at Camp Takajo? July 18, 2012

Jeff’s Thoughts:
Friendliness:  As a beautiful sunset falls upon Long Lake, I can’t help but reflect on a magnificent day.  What parent wouldn’t want to hear about the Camp Takajo Carnival, which took place on our open lawn in the center of camp today?  Our boys had an opportunity to spend the afternoon with their sisters, who came from neighboring camps. Together, they enjoyed a wide variety of huge, inflatable rides, including bounce castles, plus the traditional dunking booth, cotton candy, snow cones and a traditional BBQ cook-out.  As we approach visiting day weekend anticipating sunny skies and mild temperatures, I couldn’t help but smile as I watched several Maine summer camps come together to celebrate friends and family on a beautiful Maine day.  Friendliness.

  • Today, Camp Takajo hosted its annual Carnival Day event.  We invited six nearby camps, including Tripp Lake Camp, Camp Vega, Camp Mataponi, Camp Pinecliffe, Camp Fernwood and Camp Robindel to come enjoy our campus and the usual amenities expected at carnivals, plus a few surprises. We had an obstacle course, traditional carnival games, thrilling costumes and fun food.  Everyone had a smile on his face and a fully belly by sundown.  We can’t wait to see all our families for visiting days on Friday and Saturday!
