We have worked really hard to provide our boys with the exciting program that has created a lifetime of memories for so many who have spent their summers on the shores of Long Lake. We understand the importance of competing in intercamp, hiking the trails in New England, and participating in iconic tournaments. Today, we created those memories for a number of our boys as we hosted neighboring camps in the Takajo Tennis Invitational.

Due to scheduling conflicts, we had fewer camps participating in the tournament. However, our boys came to play. It was a beautiful sight to see all seventeen of our tennis courts in use. Our boys in Takajo uniforms were thrilled to have the opportunity to compete at the highest level. Our campers lined the fences and cheered on their friends. For the last two weeks, we’ve been able to compete in a number of intercamp events. While it’s been challenging to coordinate these events with our neighboring camps, we are working hard to create these opportunities because we know it is important to our campers.

Camper Eating Ice CreamOur Crows (finished second grade) had another exciting day as we surprised them mid-morning, reserved a local movie theater, and took them to see Minions: The Rise of Gru. Our little guys loved their day out of camp, enjoyed lunch at the theater, and were surprised and delighted when we treated them to ice cream sundaes before returning back to camp.

Juniors and Seniors had a full day of “regulars.” The lake was calm, which was perfect for our water skiers, but there was enough of a breeze to entice our sailors to take the helm. Our hobbies are an incredibly popular part of our program, and there is a constant stream of boys filling the Art Center, woodshop, and radio and electronics throughout the day. The ninth edition of the Tak Talk camp newspaper created by our campers hit the bunks and speaks to the diversity of our program. These Tak Talks are posted online for parents to enjoy.

Some of our Senior boys take time out of their busy schedule for play practice as we anticipate the curtain rising next Saturday evening for our Senior Group Leader and Theater Director Neil Minsky’s musical debut. There is so much that we pack into every day, and I am so proud of our boys for approaching every opportunity with confidence and enthusiasm.
