Camp Takajo in Naples, Maine, USA

It was another picture-perfect day at Takajo. Our campers woke up to bright sunshine and warm temperatures. With the Big Trips out of camp, our Warrior campers took advantage of all the facilities but spent some extra time enjoying our magnificent waterfront.

We held some all-star basketball games, during which the boys had the chance to compete against players of comparable ability, making the games enjoyable for all participants. The Warriors are enjoying sleepovers in our playhouse this week. Last night, our Warrior Braves division slept in sleeping bags, watched three movies, and enjoyed some pizza and snacks. This evening, our Warrior Indians had their massive sleepover and giggled until the wee hours of the morning.

The Senior Intermediates, current leaders of the camp, were given the privilege of sleeping late this morning and were awoken to a campfire-style breakfast on their quad, cooked by their group leader, Paddy Mohan. Paddy is known for making delicious bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches on the grill, and our teenage boys loved rolling out of bed in their pj’s to the smell of this breakfast feast. With just a few days left in our program before Olympic Break, we are giving the boys extra time to focus on the activities of their choice.

Throughout the morning, all Intermediates enjoyed taking banana boat rides. Takajo’s ski boats were going fulltime for those who wanted to wakeboard, wake surf, or waterski. Our golfers got another round in at Point Sebago, and the tennis courts were filled with boys who wanted to work on their skills.

It was one of those days when everybody was busy, yet there was a calm and peaceful pace to the day. As the boys retired for the night, it was easy to read the expressions on their faces that indicated a good time was had by all.
