It is fascinating to witness the transformation of this campus over the past twenty-four hours. While the threat of rain is all around us, we were blessed by seasonable temperatures that reached the mid-seventies and bright, sunny skies throughout the day.

If you walked across the campus at any given time today, you would have seen all of our facilities in full-swing.

In order for a child to become fully engaged in camp, it is imperative to create structure and get into a normal routine as quickly as possible. Too much down time provides a little guy’s brain an opportunity to wander and think about home. It is critical for us to be in normal program shortly after the boys arrive in camp. By the end of the day, campers will be assigned to a team within their age and grade levels, a hobby group (woodworking, ceramics, or crafts), and skill group (sailing, waterskiing, plus various others). By Sunday, each camper will be in our regular daily program, which includes two team sports, a hobby class, a skill activity, an instructional swim class, and free swim.

Since our boys do not go to activities by bunk, they will have the opportunity to meet and interact with all the boys within their own age level. Our program creates a wonderful opportunity for our boys to make great friendships in and out of the bunk, which helps create a warm family environment. By the time the weekend comes to a close, the Takajo campers will feel settled, engaged, and at home.
