With just one day to go before the “Big Day,” I could only imagine the excitement and nervous anticipation taking place in your homes. As parents, our instincts are to protect our children and make everything better.  As you talk to your child about heading off to camp, it’s important to remember that some of our greatest accomplishments are often preceded by great anxiety. Thinking back to our childhoods– trying out for a team or a part in a play, giving a speech, or even later in life, walking down the aisle, we recognize we grew from not letting our fears prevent us from collecting new experiences.

Remind him of the success he had learning a new sport, sleeping at his friend’s house for the first time, and let him know that he can draw upon those successes when he arrives at Camp Takajo.

Our facility is in the best shape ever. We have assembled an amazing group of young men and women, who are here to teach and care for your children.  Our counselors are hired first and foremost to be great role models. In addition, each counselor is highly-trained to teach in his or her area of expertise. We anticipate sunny, blue skies and 70-degree temperatures everyday (impossible, we know). Please know that I will treat your child as if he was my child, and I remain available to you if there is anything I can do to make this experience for you and your child more impactful. Through these blog posts, I look forward to constant communication with you.
