Dear Camp Takajo Families,
Over the years, I’ve had an amazing opportunity to witness the transformation of young boys who arrive at camp filled with enthusiasm, hope and promise and watch them grow into confident, self-reliant young men of integrity and compassion. It is an honor and a privilege to embrace the trust and confidence you place in me and our Camp Takajo staff each summer as we reinforce the values you are teaching every day in your home.
On a personal note, as I reflect back on the year, I am beyond thankful knowing that my wife, Joan, has completed her last round of chemotherapy and will complete the final phase of her treatment starting in January. As parents, we all look for those “teachable” moments for our children. Joan has taught our kids an invaluable lesson in courage by her example and by living every minute to the fullest. She has shown them that you can help and inspire others even as you are faced with your own challenges.
I can’t tell you how much the outpouring of love and support has meant to us. I am mindful that every family faces their own challenges and, as I end this note, please know that I extend my sincere thoughts and prayers to you and your family for all good things ahead. When all is said and done, what matters most is our health, our children and our loved ones.
Here’s to a happy and healthy New Year and all the amazing opportunities that lie ahead!
Jeff
