Camp Takajo Warrior Movie Night 2014

At this time of the summer, we begin hosting big sleepover parties in our movie house for all boys in Warrior camp. This is a very special occasion for our campers and counselors alike. Tonight, our Indians, campers finishing fourth grade, made their way up to this large indoor space wearing their pajamas with pillows and blankets in hand to retire for an evening of movies and laughter.

Our boys sprawled out on gym mats that were laid all over the floor. Imagine your child’s birthday party sleepover and then multiply it by ten. Because our campers do no travel to activities by bunk during the course of the day all summer, campers in a specific age level get to bond with everyone in their age group. This sleepover extravaganza is the perfect culmination to reward the friendships that have been cultivated throughout the summer.

It is amazing to see how, just six weeks ago, some boys didn’t even know each other and are now laying side-by-side watching movies together and giggling themselves to sleep. It is moments like these that children will fondly reminisce about for years to come. Camp is so much more than the games that take place on the fields. Camp is about creating lifelong bonds and genuine friendships. The Camp Takajo sleepover movie nights are among the highlights that our campers cherish each season.
