What’s Happening at Camp Takajo: June 28, 2013

By June 28, 2013 January 4th, 2019 Tak Talk

Today was the first day we woke up to a misty rain. Our older campers were disappointed because there was intercamp tournaments scheduled for the afternoon, and they were looking forward to competing against other camps. As luck would have it, the skies cleared, and the games were on. Playing against other camps at their facilities sometimes creates a few challenges. Young Camp Takajo camperWith the best of intentions, opposing counselors who were asked to referee, can’t help themselves but allow their loyalty to interfere with their officiating ability. At Takajo, we teach our boys to respect the call and play on. No matter how frustrated one might get in the heat of the game, a true sportsman leaves it all on the field and never talks back.

Arch Ideal:  Sportsmanship

  • Today, the Camp Takajo Seniors traveled to neighboring camps to compete in lacrosse at Camp WildWood and soccer at Camp Cedar.
  • In Warrior Camp today, we followed a “rainy day” schedule. The boys competed in an indoor basketball tournament, and then spent the afternoon playing dodge ball, bingo and board games. Starting tonight, we will be premiering our double-feature movie night.
  • The waterfront today was not the normal hotbed of activity because of the weather.  Soon enough, the summer weather will arrive, and the waterfront won’t see another slow day.
  • There was a full day of activities on Hobby Lane today. Arts and Crafts were busy with the first day of their crayon melting project. We have so many artistic campers!
