While Warrior and Junior Camps enjoyed another full day of activities, the excitement continued to build around our oldest campers and their Big Trips.
In camp, life certainly hasn’t slowed down. Our 12-and-under baseball players traveled to a neighboring camp for intercamp competition, while many of our younger campers continued enjoying everything a beautiful Maine summer day has to offer.
Three more of our Crow bunks are spending the evening sleeping in our treehouses. For many of these boys, it’s their very first overnight away from their bunks. There is something magical about climbing into a sleeping bag high above the forest floor with your best friends after roasting marshmallows and sharing stories together.
This evening, I got to welcome five Crow bunks at my house for movie night. Watching these little guys pile onto the couches, kick off their shoes, grab some snacks, and simply enjoy being together reminds me just how important these quieter traditions become. Especially after Visiting Day, these evenings help reinforce the feeling that camp is home.
Reports are pouring in from all over New England, and it’s clear that these trips are living up to every expectation. Our Sub Seniors canoeing the St. Croix River spent yesterday traveling to their first campsite before settling in for their first night under the stars. Today, they pushed off for their first full day on the river.
Meanwhile, our Intermediates are enjoying an unforgettable few days in Boston. This morning, they were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of historic Fenway Park, including visits to the press box, broadcast booths, the Red Sox Hall of Fame Club, the 406 Club, the dugout seats, and the iconic Pesky’s Pole. From there, they explored Quincy Market before heading to the New England Aquarium, where they saw over 24,000 fascinating marine animals and experienced a spectacular IMAX presentation on the largest screen in New England. Their day concluded with a few hours at Topgolf, where plenty of friendly competition was followed by a well-earned buffet dinner.
Our Okees made the most of their final day in camp before departing on their Canada trip tomorrow. Between banana boating, the AquaGlide, a pickup basketball game, there is an unmistakable excitement around Senior Quad. Their bags are packed, the anticipation is building, and they are leaving camp on an incredible high.
