Tak Talk Blog- Camp Takajo – July 29, 2024

Our Seniors are back. It’s always a great feeling to see those buses roll down the camp road as our oldest boys step back onto Takajo soil. Our Okees returned exhausted but exhilarated from an incredible week in Canada. The jet boating experience was the perfect way to cap off this incredible trip. Our Sub-Seniors, who had transitioned from their respective golf, Mt. Katahdin, and St. Croix River trips, met up in Booth Bay Harbor to complete their magical week out of camp— they too stepped back onto Takajo soil this evening.

Next up are our Juniors. Our Junior Greens (finished fifth grade) departed for Saint Anselm College in Goffstown, New Hampshire. Our boys were in awe when they stepped onto a college campus and had the opportunity to take advantage of the facilities before enjoying a delicious buffet in the college’s dining facility. After an evening of fun, the boys retired to the college dorms, where they got some shut-eye in anticipation of traveling to Canobie Lake Park tomorrow for a day of thrilling rides at the amusement park.

Our Junior Greys (finished sixth grade) met today with Trip Leader Chris Young in preparation for their departure on an overnight white water rafting trip, which leaves tomorrow morning.

All three Warrior age groups will take a break from their normal routine this week to go out on Big Trips to Storyland, Funtown Splashtown, and Water Country— amusement and water parks in the area.

We’re transitioning from the structure of our regular program, augmented by our Big Trips, which will lead us to the start of Olympics. The boys eagerly anticipate how our Olympics will break, but have no idea.

After a packed day of in-camp activities for our boys on campus, gray skies made way for a little mist in the air— something we haven’t had much of this summer. We took the opportunity to move indoors into our two sports complexes while other boys made their way over to Hobby Lane to work on bunk plaques. As we approach the final week of camp, our boys are motivated to make the most out of every day and won’t be stopped by a little rain.
