We’re clicking on all cylinders. The weather continues to be spectacular. The last few days have mirrored the magnificent weather we had when we hosted visiting day last weekend. Bright sunshine, warm temperatures, and low humidity— the perfect recipe for ideal camp days.
We had sleep-outs in our tree houses for a few of our Crow bunks. After roasting marshmallows and making s’mores over a campfire, our little guys marched across our fields in their PJs, pillows in hand, through the narrow path that took them to three tree houses nestled in the woods. In the still of the night, one could hear the whispers coming from each of the tree houses as our little boys jabbered away until their eyes closed and they fell asleep in the outdoors, breathing in the fresh Maine air.
Our Okees report that their trip to Canada is the perfect way to cap off their illustrious camp careers. Aside from experiencing some incredible sights, they’re able to have this experience with their best friends. Reports from the counselors say that our oldest boys are soaking up every minute of their time together, knowing that upon returning it will start the bitter-sweet ending of their time at camp.
Our Sub-Seniors are all together in Booth Bay Harbor. They raved about the lobster bake and today enjoyed touring coastal Maine by kayak. This guided tour took in the dramatic sights of Porcupine Island in Frenchman’s Bay, where our boys were able to witness harbor seals, bald eagles, and other wildlife.
Our boys in camp enjoyed a full day of activities. The art shops were filled as campers and counselors sat around tables, designing and creating their bunk plaques. Warriors and Juniors were in normal routines, which included team sports, hobbies, and skills. Meanwhile, our Intermediates, who have just returned from Boston, got their heart rates back up by playing in a very competitive soccer game.
As the day came to an end and the sun began to set over the mountains across the lake, our boys settled in for Saturday night at the movies. For those who were interested, we turned on the Olympics in our lodge and came together to root for the USA. It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a week since our visiting day and that we are on the eve of another Lazy Man’s Morning. While the days can sometimes feel long, the weeks are flying by.
