We’ve hit a great stretch of weather. Temperatures once again reached the mid-eighties. The sun was shining bright, and we were blessed by a warm breeze that came across the lake, allowing our sailors the opportunity to test their skills in our javelins, phantoms, and sunfish.
Throughout the day, our younger boys were enjoying our playaks, playing water basketball, and learning how to swim. Our ski boats were running nonstop as a number of our first-time campers experienced the thrill of a lifetime as they popped up out of the water.
Our fields and courts are all in use, and I’m incredibly impressed with the level of instruction and coaching our boys are receiving at camp. There’s no one better to teach basketball to our Warrior campers than the legendary Shad, whose enthusiasm is infectious and whose patience and technique are brilliant.
Our Senior boys have been preparing for a 14-and-under basketball tournament which takes place in a few days. They’ve been practicing at the 11:15 AM and 4:15 PM elective periods. Athletic Director and Coach Jeff Cunjak has these boys playing with heart and intensity. It’s an unselfish brand of basketball where the boys cut and pass and the ball barely touches the floor.
Some of our Junior campers had the opportunity to play a round of golf today. Three more pioneering trips departed early this morning, allowing our campers to enjoy the scenic beauties of New England.
This evening after dinner, our Warrior boys had the opportunity to join sports clinics where they took advantage of extra instruction. One of the more popular clinics was baseball, where many boys got to take swings in our batting cage.
When the sun set over Long Lake and the sound of Tattoo echoed across the campus, our boys’ heads hit the pillow. It was a long but productive day and there was much to celebrate.
