The excitement in camp is palpable. The fields are in the best shape ever. We have assembled an incredible group of men and women who are eager to be role models to your children. To achieve any level of success, one needs to surround himself with great people, and I am so fortunate to be flanked by the best leaders in camping.

While we are counting down the minutes until your children arrive on Saturday, I know what so many of you are experiencing. There is a nervous anticipation that exists in so many homes as you prepare to send your child to camp. Whether he is embarking on his first experience leaving the nest or returning as a seasoned veteran, transitions are sometimes unpredictable and challenging. “The only one that likes change is a wet baby,” and to create some of our greatest life experiences, we must overcome the challenge that comes with transition.

In the hours leading up to departure, you must be your child’s greatest cheerleader. No matter what you might be feeling, your son needs to see your excitement and enthusiasm. You have prepared him for this moment. He is ready for the challenges that lie ahead. He will not only learn new skills on the playing fields but also has the opportunity to experience the thrill of waterskiing, scale our 50-foot climbing wall, and create great works of art in our hobbies.

Your child will learn how to self-advocate and learn how to be gracious in victory as well as defeat. Your son will learn how to be more self-reliant surrounded by our staff. He will learn to take responsibility for his actions and personal belongings.

Camp is a microcosm of the real world, and every day is not perfect. But, camp is a place to gain great skills and develop meaningful friendships, self-esteem, and memories that will last a lifetime. My staff and I are here for you. We have the facility and the personnel to meet your child’s needs. You should never feel disconnected from your child. Through daily blogs, photos, and videos, we hope to give you a bird’s eye view into your son’s life at camp. But if you ever feel the need, I am here to help you. Here’s to a great summer, as ever.
