Warrior Campers Smiling

It was a busy Monday. Temperatures climbed into the low eighties, a hint of humidity was in the air, and the sun was shining; it was a picture-perfect summer day. The majority of our boys were in full program. League championships ended in heroic style last night for our Senior Campers, and new teams will be announced by tomorrow. Mike Turtle is running soccer clinics all day for boys of all age levels. We are constantly making announcements to make sure that everyone who wants to participate attends these incredible sessions.

We ran camping trips to Winniweta Falls for two bunks of Warrior Hawks, boys who finished the third grade. Our boys had a chance to visit these impressive waterfalls, hike on scenic trails, explore magnificent vistas, and take a refreshing dip before returning back to camp before dinner. A group of Juniors went off property today to explore Dunn Falls. Our boys hiked a two-mile loop, explored numerous waterfall spots, hiked along the Appalachian Trail, and enjoyed a cool dip in a refreshing stream before returning home to Camp Takajo for dinner.

Camp Takajo Teenage Boy WaterskiingOur thirteen- and fifteen-and-under basketball teams were on the road for a double-elimination basketball tournament. Our boys played hard, but it was not enough to bring home victories. Both teams came up short yet held their heads high and took their defeat with grace and humility.

It was a mellow evening at camp, just a night at home for our boys to hang together, sail until sunset, fish off the dock, and enjoy some unstructured free play. As I made my way around to the bunks to say goodnight to our younger boys, campers sat by bunk at picnic tables next to the Snack Shack, munching on bowls of cereal– laughing, bonding, and winding down after a beautiful Maine summer day.
