What’s Happening at Camp Takajo? JULY 4, 2012

By July 4, 2012 January 14th, 2019 Tak Talk
  • Today is Independence Day!  Our day is jam-packed with holiday activities including as the annual parade, our cookout at camp and some fun in the sun.

Senior Okeechobee campers lead the Camp Takajo contingent of the Naples Independence Day Parade.

  • Yesterday we sent twenty of our 12 and under tennis (U12) players to the Winaukee 12 Invitational Tournament, and we ended up winning the whole thing.   There was a strong showing from all players, especially the doubles players. Congratulations guys!
  • It started out a little quiet on the waterfront today because of picture day and the 4th of July events.  We will have our annual Indian Beach Party this afternoon, which will include banana boating, swimming, volleyball, splashing in the water and celebrating the summer!
  • Picture day is upon us and everyone is looking great in his Takajo uniform.  The Warrior Crows and Braves parade into town for the 4th, and the Indians have a special beach day for themselves.
  • There was an Intra-camp swim meet this morning for the Junior Greys and all the Senior boys.  A lot of the Seniors wanted to be involved in the parade today, it’s an annual tradition for them to take one last stroll down the Naples Causeway proudly carrying the Camp Takajo banner.
  • The 14 and under (U14) boys went 2-0 in baseball yesterday, which included a home run in extra innings to take the lead.  Tonight, we are going to have out first family cookout.
  • The Pioneering staff is talking to all the Seniors, asking them to choose where to go for their big trips.  The options are five days in Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, five days near Baxter Park hiking Mt. Katahdin, rafting the Kennebec River, or five days of canoeing on the St. Croix River.
