It was a quiet, lowkey day in camp. Our Crows (finished first or second grades) left this morning for their Big Trip to Storyland, a very cool amusement park that is designed for younger children. Every ride and attraction has been created for the wonder and enjoyment of seven- and eight-year-olds, and the soft-serve ice cream is as mouth-watering and refreshing as anyone could hope for on a hot summer day in New England. Flanked by their counselors, our boys enjoyed a variety of rides that brought smiles to all— and stomachaches to a few.
Our Hawks (finished third grade) had a regular day of activities, including a little extra time to cool off in the lake on this hot, humid day.
Our Eagles (finished fourth grade), who will be moving up to the Junior Division next summer, were surprised with a Warrior Camp graduation party in their indoor rec. hall this evening as a culmination of their role as leaders of Warrior Camp.
Our Junior Greens (finished fifth grade) slept over at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire last night. After a hearty breakfast in the college cafeteria, they boarded their bus and made their way to Canobie Lake Park for an awesome day at this “big boys” theme park. While the weather was hot, our boys enjoyed a cool breeze as they zipped around on fast roller coasters and refreshed themselves in the Canobie Cool Zone, where a fine mist brought welcome relief from the heat.
Our Junior Greys (finished sixth grade) had an awesome evening yesterday when they were surprised with Casino Night. Armed with Takajo funny money, the boys were ready to play— and enjoyed rounds of blackjack, craps, and roulette. This morning, they boarded a bus and headed north to Adventure Bound, where they spent the evening around a campfire and settled into cabins in preparation for their whitewater rafting adventure early tomorrow morning.
Our Seniors (finished seventh, eighth, or ninth grades) are back in full swing. With all three age groups returned to camp from their trips, the boys were excited to get back out on the fields and shake off the cobwebs after a week of out-of-camp travel.
Boys remain on alert as they know it’s only a matter of time before they hear the Olympic bugle call and the spirit of competition takes over the camp.
