That might’ve been the fastest week of camp.

We packed so much in, and yet there’s still so much more to do. We mentioned to the counselors that it’s time to start working on bunk plaques. Admittedly, the mere suggestion made me pause and acknowledge, we’re rounding the corner and heading towards home.

Our Junior Greys had an awesome day today as they were surprised with an invitation to the Senior Quad to experience a day in the life of Senior Camp. Since the Sub Seniors and Okees are still out on their Big Trips, our Intermediates are in charge. They welcomed the Greys to the Senior Quad, where they partook in a day of competition, worked out during two elective periods, and hung out in the Senior Rec. Hall after Taps.

We’re doing a ton of All-Star Games, giving boys of all ages and ability levels the chance to compete in the sports of their choosing. Tonight, our Eagles had an all-star soccer game, where great skill and sportsmanship were on display. Coached by our soccer counselors, our boys were in rare form, showing off many of the skills they’ve learned here this summer.

I got an incredible report from our trip leaders in Canada that the Okees are having the best week of their lives. Today, they visited the Montreal Nature Museum, the BioDome, before heading to La Ronde Amusement Park (Six Flags), where they had the chance to experience over 40 rides, including nine roller coasters. Among them, the newest addition, the Titan, which soared over 145 feet above La Ronde, swinging them like a giant pendulum at speeds reaching 70 MPH. And, if that wasn’t enough, after Six Flags, our boys made their way to Oasis Surf, an indoor surfing complex, where they tested their skills riding waves before enjoying a delicious, coastal-style dinner.

After a full day of activities at every age level back at camp, our boys retired to their rec. halls for movie night, complete with popcorn. Tired from a packed week, I think we can all enjoy a later Reveille tomorrow morning; and, of course, our favorite Dunkin’ Donuts.
