It was a “quiet” day in camp…

Our Okees embarked this morning on their long-awaited journey to Canada. Our oldest boys gathered for breakfast, munched down some egg & cheese sandwiches and couldn’t wait to board the chartered bus and head with their brothers on a trip of a lifetime. They arrived in Quebec City in time for dinner, and enjoyed an evening activity– the Quebec City Haunted Walk. As the skies began to darken over the city, a costumed tour guide struck a match and lit the lantern, taking our boys through the darker side of Quebec’s history. Our boys were riveted as they heard over 400 years of historical murders, executions, and mysterious ghost sightings. After a thrilling first evening, our boys retired to their hotel for some much needed rest… for tomorrow is another busy day.

Our Sub Senior golfers have waited all summer to play the magnificent Samoset Golf Course in Rockport, Maine. A perfect 80-degree light breeze on the fairway was the perfect backdrop for one of Maine’s most iconic courses. While a good time was had by all, it is reported that the boys’ golf bags are lighter to carry as mulligans are occurring on many holes.

Our Maine Adventure Trip enjoyed a relaxing morning at Step Back Disk Golf. Nestled upon a 100-acre tract, this disc golf course combines scenic vistas, numerous terrain changes, and challenging play for both the experienced and the newbie disc golfers alike.

Our Intermediates spent their morning at the Boston Museum of Science, enjoying over 550 interactive exhibits about natural history, physical science, medicine, and astronomy. The highlight of the museum was the Hall of Human Life, where the boys had an opportunity to experience a revolutionary way of understanding their own biology. After a Pizza lunch at Boda Borg, our boys enjoyed a two-hour interactive real-world gaming experience. Our boys were challenged and intrigued by this linked experience and worked up an appetite for their dinner at Maggiano’s Little Italy.

Meanwhile, our boys in camp had the run of the facility. Juniors enjoyed a full day of hobbies, skills, and league competition. Our Eagles (finished fourth grade) grabbed a shower after lunch, put on their cleanest clothes, and boarded the “yellow taxi” for Camp Vega— thus starting the awkward age of socials. After a delicious cookout dinner with those remaining in camp, our Hawks (finished third grade) made their way down to my house for movie night.

We had another cool evening, perfect for sleeping– another great day at Takajo.
