Tak Talk Blog- Camp Takajo – July 23, 2025

It was a phenomenal day. We continue to have magnificent weather and our boys have completely transitioned away from any post-visiting day blues to “all-in” camp mode for the final home stretch of the summer.

Our Eagles (finished fourth grade) traveled to a neighboring camp for a lacrosse tournament. Dressed in Takajo uniforms, our little guys competed hard and showed off the skills that they’ve learned so far this summer. Our Junior Greens (finished fifth grade) hosted a flag football tournament where two of our teams met in the finals for a head-to-head showdown. While these boys compete against each other all the time in their regular league, they took it to another level this afternoon. When it was all over, however, there were hugs and handshakes. Friendships resumed in the spirit of healthy competition.

Reports from our Big Trips are incredible. Our Intermediates (finished seventh grade) toured Fenway Park this morning and had lunch in Quincy Market. Later, they traveled to the New England Aquarium where they got to see over 25,000 specimens of fish and aquatic animals from piranhas to penguins and sharks. They ended their day at Top Golf in Boston where they enjoyed two hours of gameplay where their scores were tracked on live leaderboards while enjoying a “fajita fiesta” buffet dinner.

Our Sub Senior golfers played the Sunday River Golf Course yesterday and made their way to Outlook Golf Course today for 18 holes. Our Maine Adventure trip for some of our other 14-year-old boys landed at the Penobscot Outdoor Rafting Center for an exhilarating day of White Water Rafting. A cookout lunch was enjoyed on the banks of the river, followed by a delicious dinner and a movie before retiring for the night. Our last group of Sub Seniors— camping enthusiasts canoeing down the St. Croix River— had a magnificent day on the water and raved about the fishing along the route.

This evening, I entertained our Warrior Crows (finished first or second grades) for a movie night down at my house. Following in the footsteps of their older Warrior Eagle brothers, our little guys enjoyed cozying up on the couches and munching on some snacks before retiring to bed.

There is something for everyone at this time of the season. It was a great camp day!
