It was a regular program for Warrior and Junior Camps today, as the boys (finished first – fifth grades) appreciated being back in their routine without the emotion that comes with seeing all of our visitors.
League sports games started with great instruction, teaching our boys fundamentals, followed by very competitive games that ended with handshakes. I walked into the Art Center this afternoon and was blown away by the works of art hanging on the walls, all produced this summer in preparation for our end-of-season Art Show.
Our Junior Greys (finished sixth grade) cut their activities short and grabbed showers mid-afternoon, to depart for a dinner social with the girls at Camp Vega.
Our Intermediates and Sub Seniors (finished seventh and eighth grades) departed for their Big Trips after breakfast this morning. The “Inters” made it to Gloucester, Massachusetts, in time for a lobster bake buffet, which was met with rave reviews.
Our Okees (finished ninth grade) took off after lunch to a local course for an afternoon of golf. They’re counting down the minutes until they depart for their big trip to Canada on Wednesday.
During the dinner meal, I surprised our Eagles (finished fourth grade) with an invitation down to my house for a movie night. The boys loved the opportunity to get cozy on my couches while munching on snacks, watching a movie on a flatscreen. Especially after coming off of visiting day and feeling the distance to family, coming down to my place makes our boys feel at home.
It was a cool, crisp night when Taps blew. It’s three-blanket Maine weather.
