Tak Talk Blog- Camp Takajo – July 21, 2025

By July 20, 2025 Tak Talk

There was a sense of calm and peaceful tranquility as Reveille blew this morning and boys rolled out of bed and made their way down to the dining hall in their PJs for a buffet breakfast of the Sunday-usual Dunkin’ Donuts. Admittedly, there were more than a few campers coming off a bit of a sugar high after a few too many treats yesterday. But what the heck, it was visiting day and a time to indulge.

I hope that as many of you have had a chance to reflect on your day with your sons, you share the sentiment that I received from so many. There has been tremendous growth and a sense of independence that was noticed, an inner confidence and pride in their accomplishments, a feeling of strength and resilience for our younger boys who have learned to navigate around our campus while managing their personal belongings and relationships with their bunkmates.

As we transitioned away from visiting day, Seniors spent the day today focusing on preparation for upcoming excursions. Our Intermediates and Sub Seniors will depart first thing tomorrow morning on some amazing “Big Trips.” Warriors and Juniors have a week filled with day trips, intercamp competition, and socials. I, personally, am looking forward to hosting all the Warriors by age group down at my house for movie nights.

As we take one final deep breath and celebrate the magnificent weather and incredible visiting day we had yesterday, we now transition into a packed week with all the fun that’s in store down the home stretch.
